During CARABRAM 2010, the German Canadian Club Hansa invites you to visit the GERMAN PAVILION located at Hansa Haus, 6650 Hurontario Street, just North of Hwy 401, South of Derry Road.

Germany is a modern country – export world champion, largest economy in Europe, fourth largest in the world after USA, Japan, and this year China. They build cutting edge automobiles and machinery. With almost 1000 km coastline on the North- and Baltic Seas it is also a maritime nation with Hamburg being its largest port.

However, to discover a peoples’ soul, you have to look at its traditions, fairy tales, folklore, folkdances, folksongs, and “folk festivals”.

All these were best preserved in the Alpine regions of Southern Germany, namely the state of Bavaria and its German speaking neighbor-countries Austria and Switzerland. German, Austrian and Swiss immigrants brought these traditions to Canada and the USA over the centuries.

The capital of Bavaria is the city of Munich. Munich is known for its 200 year old Oktoberfest. This 16-days festival attracts over 6 million visitors and tourists from all over the globe every year.

The German Pavilion features a traditional German Octoberfest setting, and a Haensel and Gretel Family area sponsored by the German Language Schools located in Mississauga and Oakville.

Please visit our Bavarian Cafe and Biergarten and our Haensel and Gretel Family Area and enjoy our Octoberfest food and drinks.
